The Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations™

The Youth Assembly (YA) demonstrates what committed, global youth leaders can and have accomplished in support of the MDGs. Each year the reviews grow stronger in appreciation for what the Youth Assembly offers and what it proves we can all do together.  The program at the United Nations remains free after a low registration fee and registration acceptance. Details.

Join hundreds of 16 - 24 year old youth leaders from Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and the USA, who are expected to attend the events at UN Headquarters this August.

This year's focus combines the success of the MDGs and the ability of cultural exchange to build mutual understanding and global cooperation. Arts ensembles and international relations delegates are welcome.

"I urge you to see your time (at the YA) as a call to action. The world needs each and every one of you to do your part in transforming our world and building a more sustainable and equitable future for all."

- U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

Reasons to Join Us in 2011:

A greater UN perspective than in previous years -- Youth-led development and opportunities for involvement in U.N. related activities -- Furthering the Millennium Development Goals through your personal career development in civil society -- All this, plus excellent networking opportunities and optional, affordable NYC accommodations -- including meals, local transportation, and special events -- with a large group of international youth leaders, on Manhattan's famous East Side. And don't forget the culturally enriching UC Peace Arts Festival's 'Culture Night,' the YA's MDG Campaign Night, YA-related Leadership Seminars (pre-and post-YA) and more.  And, the YA is free after registration and acceptance!

The Youth Assembly shows how one person can make a difference by engaging with present-day challenges through education and active citizen diplomacy. It provides avenues for students and young professionals like YOU to learn about and become involved with programs that address the global issues resonant in the MDGs, network among the large, international delegate presence, and become engaged and empowered to take leadership roles in their home communities.

  • With delegate numbers already near capacity limits due to UN renovations, assure yourself a place at one of the largest public events for youth on the UN's annual calendar;
  • Take advantage of optional accommodation specials available for both individuals and groups while they last; and
  • Make sure you don't miss out on the YA's popular special events due to anticipated overflow participation once again in 2011.
  •

"If you saw the impact you have had on the youth, and young at heart, attending (FAF's Youth) Assembly, you would have to shade your eyes from the brightness of hope."  - Paulette Schatz, Project Manager. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
