WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID: AND WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

"Never have I met so many passionate and motivated young individuals than through the Youth Assembly at the United Nations. Thanks for such an AMAZING experience!"
- Esperanza Garcia, 2008 YA Leadership Seminar Attendee, Co-Founder, International Youth Council (created at the YA); Director of Global Warming & Climate Change Initiative

"If you saw the impact you have had on the youth, and young at heart, attending (FAF's Youth) Assembly, you would have to shade your eyes from the brightness of hope."
- Paulette Schatz, Project Manager. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

"I'm so impressed about the organization of this year's youth assembly and I think you deserve lots of commendation."
- Prosper Hoetu (Participant)

"This was the best YA yet! Everything seemed to go so smoothly. This is the first time I really had a bit of a chance to really experience some of the sessions and workshops and they were excellent. Bravo FAF!"
- Davina Fisher (Volunteer)

"I just wanted to extend a sincere word of thanks for organizing the UN Youth Assembly. It was my first time attending the conference and I was utterly impressed by the depth and breadth of topics as well as the passion of the panelists and my fellow delegates. As a Project Manager at the Clinton Foundation and the Co-Founder of Canopy (a non-profit organization in Tanzania focused on bridging the education achievement gap for orphans) the conference was not only personally fulfilling, but professionally rewarding. I hope to be back at next year's UN Youth Assembly and I hope I can reach out to you if I have any inquiries."
- Justin Pang (Participant)

"Very much enjoyed the delightful, if brief, time I was able to spend with you and the assembled delegates of the UN YA last Friday!"
- Maria Guralnik (Plenary Speaker)

To Esperanza Garcia, 2009 Workshop Leader: "I would like to thank you and the team who made possible that your workshop. In my opinion the three day at Youth Assembly was a great experience that inspired me and made me think about all the things WE need to do to make a positive impact in the world and make the difference from every person that's in it. On the other hand, your workshop was a success the way you made it happen!
With your workshop, not only, I managed to find a way to make possible the ideas I had in my mind but also to share them with people that has the same interests as I do, and that is AWESOME!! Together we can make THE difference! Thank you very much and good luck on your future projects!"
- Pia Espinel, Lima, Peru (YA 2009 Participant)

"Ms. Devlin (FAF Founder and Board Member), It was such a pleasure to meet you on Friday. I am so pleased you enjoyed my presentation, I really enjoyed giving it. I love young people and feel them. Having traveled to 56 countries since 2001, experiencing different cultures, thoughts, ideologies and putting oneself in the position as a real listener and servant leader has taught and continues to teach me well. You have founded a wonderful organization for young people. I pray you always experience great health, happiness and prosperity in your life always.
- Yvonne R. Davis (Plenary Speaker and Writer, Huffington Post)

"Congrats! Dear Patrick,
Thanks for all your help, it was a wonderful conference!! Well done!!"

It was really a good youth gathering where I extended relationship with the youth and other organization for the future projects. I am going to organize a workshop where I will share all my experience whatever I obtained from this Assembly and will encourage Nepalese youth to promote MDGs with their efforts in their fields."

The Secretary's Innovation Award
The Secretary's Innovation Award for the Empowerment of Women and Girls seeks to find and bring to scale the most pioneering approaches to the political, economic and social empowerment of women and girls around the globe. Funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, the award is part of the State Department's continuing emphasis on public-private partnerships, and is administered by its Office of Global Women's Issues. The award, and the office, are founded on the premise that the major economic, security, governance and environmental challenges of our time cannot be solved without the full participation of women at all levels of society. The Rockefeller Foundation, as part of its mission to expand opportunity and promote more equitable growth, seeks to identify innovative approaches that can be scaled to address these challenges.
The purpose of this announcement is to invite interested parties to submit a concept paper that describes innovations that have proven to have a positive impact on the lives of women and girls politically, socially, or economically. The concept paper should: (1) describe the innovation, (2) how it has been successful, and, (3) how it can be supported and enlarged with additional financial support to empower women and girls in their communities.
