Congressman Shays Visits to Honor Katrina Efforts by FAF Tour Ensembles |
 |
Representative Christopher Shays visited the FAF
offices on the second sad anniversary of the Katrina
disaster in New Orleans. He came by to offer thanks
for the service based concert tours by EagleSong
(IL),
the
RSVP Singers (CA), and FAF's own Youth Symphony
for
United Nations (each of these ensembles traveled to
New Orleans to give free to the public concerts as
part of the foundations' New Orleans Reclamation
Concert Tour project.)
The Congressman is Co-Chair of the Congressional
Arts Caucus and, as such, stated "I take great joy in
events that promote the arts and imagination."
He went on to praise FAF and its programming that
enables concert tours to become volunteer and service
opportunities: "You should be proud of your
achievements ... in particular I commend you on your
continued efforts to provide support and hope to the
victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans."

Sister Cities Project Enables FAF's Diplomatic Concert Tours |
 |
Sister Cities programs offer the opportunity to
transform
concert tours into diplomatic 'missions'.
Friendship Ambassadors
Foundation has joined with the town of Greenwich to
create and develop a Sister Cities
relationship between it and Vienne, France.
The FAF team along with adult and youth arts
ensembles from Greenwich are preparing for two
years of concert tours
through
this
new Sister Cities Project. In 2008, Greenwich,
Connecticut's well-respected adult Choral
Society, under the direction of Maestro Paul Mueller,
plans to visit Vienne, France to inaugurate the
new relationship between the two cities. In 2009, the
Greenwich High School Honor Choir is planning to
travel to Vienne, live in homestays, and offer joint
concerts and workshops with their young, French
peers.
FAF is able
to use
this expertise to help other cities and towns find
interesting Sister Cities relationships, too - and
perhaps more importantly, when one exits, the
foundation knows how to maximize the potential of
these diplomatic relationships to benefit the traveling
ensembles and volunteer or educational groups it
serves. Give FAF the chance to enhance your
concert tour in 2008.

Greenwich Arts Council, FAF Music
Director Yin-Chu Jou, Robert Luce, Board
Member of the Greenwich Choral Society, and Dr.
Jeffery Spector, District
Wide Director of the Arts for the Greenwich, CT
school system.
