Tacoma Street / Johnson Creek MAX boardwalk update
Here is the interpretive concept for the Tacoma Street / Johnson Creek MAX station boardwalk. A group of stakeholders met on July 19th to review three preliminary interpretive concepts from the design firm.  At the July 19th meeting, the group agreed to blend elements of two of the draft concepts.

The next step will we be a 60% design and firm cost estimate for the boardwalk by end of September.   In the fall, the group will start fundraising in earnest for boardwalk construction, including the We Are Stewards of Johnson Creek / handrailing etchings fundraising concept, which will target small donations.

Efforts are being made for salmon habitat protection - the group has submitted two grant applications for the salmon habitat, which also included a request for some funding for boardwalk construction.

Possible Solution for Gravel Streets in Portland
Many of the City of Portland's gravel streets are in neighborhoods that once belonged to Multnomah County. Those neighborhoods were annexed to the City after the houses were built. Unlike the City of Portland, Multnomah County did not require street improvements of homebuilders. Similar houses on similar streets but in different parts of town either paid a fee to help fund the cost of their streets or waived their rights to object to any future streets fees due to Portland's requirements.

The City is working to offer Portlanders who live on a 46 mile subset of these quiet neighborhood gravel streets a cheaper paved street design and new financing options to get them, 'Out of the Mud (and Dust).' Learn more about this project here.

11th Annual Build It Green! Home Tour and Info Fair

Division Street Safety Public Meeting
Date - September 26, 2012 / Time - Evening (time to be determined)
Where - Warner Pacific College
Why - Portland Bureau of Transportation wants feedback from the neighborhood on safety options for Division.
PLEASE ATTEND AND LET PBOT KNOW HOW MUCH WE CARE ABOUT DIVISION SAFETY.

PBOT will present some alternatives for making SE Division between 60th and 82nd safer for pedestrians, bikes, and autos. One option is what is called a "road diet". This option would involve repainting the street with three lanes (one each direction and a left turn lane), bike lanes on each side and possibly bus turn outs. With this option pedestrian islands would be possible at crosswalks (68th and at least one new crosswalk at 64th).
