Portland Green Parenting Puts Down Roots in Southeast Portland with Food Buying Club, Caf and More by Martha Wagner, Neighborhood Notes

Know Thy Food

"... A food cooperative enabling families to stick to a budget while purchasing organic, local and sustainably grown food is not so different from that of food co-ops in the '60s and '70s. Technology, however, is one factor that sets Know Thy Food apart from those co-ops. Members place their orders online, farmers and other vendors use the online ordering system, and a steady stream of food information as well as requests to split an order of this or that is posted 24/7 on the member forum."

The Regional Coalition for Clean Rivers and Streams is forming an online panel to share information about water quality issues in the Portland-Vancouver area. You can join the Clean River Panel online by submitting a brief, demographic survey. And when you join, the coalition enters your name in a raffle for a $500 prize.

The individual survey questions remain confidential. The coalition uses the information only to keep track of general demographics of panel participants. The coalition will invite survey participants to share opinions about the health of local rivers and streams in future surveys.

The Portland Bureau of Environmental Services is one of eight public agencies and municipalities in the Regional Coalition for Clean Rivers and Streams. The coalition works to raise public awareness of water quality issues and the impacts of stormwater pollution. Take the online survey now and join the panel at www.cleanriverpanel.com.
