| Greetings! | Another year at SE Uplift has flown by! As always, we've been out in our neighborhoods working with neighborhood association volunteers and boards in a myriad of ways. But, this year we also focused significant energy on our aging building and shabby grounds. Our property should be a hub of community - hosting events and meetings and a lively tenant population. And, though times are tight, we have gone far toward helping this community asset become the community treasure it should be.
We took out the leaking oil tank and put in an efficient gas furnace. To better manage storm water run-off we won an East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation grant and are constructing rain gardens and a bio-swale on our grounds (thanks, Depave, for digging up the concrete and asphalt)! Using volunteers we replaced our old lighting system with efficient fluorescents. We also collaborated with Oregon Tradeswomen to convert an unused gazebo into picnic tables and Adirondack chairs to delight staff, visitors and neighbors alike come the warmer seasons.
Next we're upgrading the main level bathrooms to be ADA compliant - and a bit more pleasant for us all. For our bike-commuting staff and tenants we plan a shower and lockers in the basement bathroom. We've had a contractor in, and he gave us some good ideas for how to make this happen, economically, and efficiently. But we need your help.
We've pulled together most of the funding, but need to raise another $3,000.00. That's where you come in. If all our friends and supporters contribute $20 to this project we can make our goal! Remember, 100% of your donation to SE Uplift is tax deductible. If you can afford to give a little more, give for your neighbor who can't. No gift is too small to make a difference. Together we can make significant improvements to this building.
Make your secure, tax deductible contribution on our website via PayPal, or mail it to: SE Uplift, 3534 SE Main St., Portland Or 97214
Thank you for all you do in your neighborhoods and your city.
Sincerely,
Anne Dufay Executive Director SE Uplift Neighborhood Coalition
