 The Office of Neighborhood Involvement (ONI) has allocated funds to SE Uplift for management of a new Graffiti Abatement Community Grant Program for FY 2010-2011. Grant funds totaling $8486 were made available to neighborhood associations, businesses and community- based organizations for projects with an emphasis on graffiti prevention, graffiti abatement and/or addressing locations chronically tagged with graffiti. After thoughtful consideration by the Graffiti Abatement Community Grant Committee, seven community projects were funded: Montavilla Neighborhood Association, Our Happy Block Coalition, Two Rivers Aikikai, Brooklyn Action Corps, Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association, Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association, and Creston-Kenilworth Neighborhood Association. For details about each project, click HERE |

Community Intent on Designing a Green Light Rail Station at Tacoma Street
Collaborating with Trimet and Metro, the Johnson Creek Watershed Council has produced a series of community charettes (charette is an architectural term for a collaborative design session) this summer focused on designing the Tacoma MAX station and Park-and-Ride to enhance the ecology and hydrology of nearby Johnson Creek and to serve as a gateway to the beautiful creekside areas accessible by bike and foot on the newly-repaved Springwater Corridor Trail. The SE Portland Tool Library is an all-volunteer library of home and garden tools which may be borrowed free of charge by SE Portland residents.
We're just like a library that lends books, we just happen to deal in saws, hammers, rakes, ladders, and seeds!
Since the beginning of June, Buckman Portland Farmers Market in southeast Portland has seen a significant increase in distribution  of food assistance funds to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamp) participants. A Portland Business Alliance Leadership Portland team developed the food assistance matching program, called Fresh Exchange. Fresh Exchange is modeled after Foodshare Fund Northeast, a nutrition incentive program offered at the King Portland Farmers Market. Both markets are two of the six urban Portland Farmers Markets. justice, sustainability and livability. Local organizations, community
groups and neighbors will enjoy networking, participating in trainings
and sharing resources!
 The Backyard Habitat Certification Program is a collaborative effort between the Audubon Society of Portland, Columbia Land Trust, and many other partners. This citywide program to engage and recognize urban landowners (under 1 acre) in invasive plant removal, storm water management, and in creating backyard habitats.
Calling all neighborhood activists interested in transportation issues. The Portland Bureau of Transportation and Portland State University are offering a FREE class just for you. Local traffic and transportation issues, transportation options, and how to get things done in your neighborhood are the focus of this well-respected, ten-week, university course.
