Hi!
 What's New?
Sidewalk Seating

sidewalk tablesWhen there's a beautiful day, we never seem to have enough outside seating. Therefore, we have added sidewalk tables that will be available all day every day, weather permitting (remember this is Illinois after all). We think our sidewalk patio area is a nice edition to downtown LaSalle. A great way to enjoy the fireworks this weekend without fighting the crowds. -Ryan

Steve Forbert, Friday, November 20th
stever forbert
With his very appealing and gritty voice, Steve's style - a blend of rock 'n' roll, country, folk and R&B - gives him an unmistakably American sound. His gift for spinning a musical yarn is, if I had to compare, a bit like Mark Twain grafted with John Prine; toss in some Tom Petty and you've pretty much got the picture.

Steve is a songwriter with an easy-going introspective, who, at his beginnings, was like a lot of other talented singer/songwriters who happened to play acoustic guitar and harp-on-a-rack, he was touted to be the 'next Dylan'. A hefty handle for a young 21 year old kid from Mississippi to try to step into. What critics and reviewers learned over time however, was that he really didn't have to be the 'next Dylan' because he could hold his own in those lofty ranks without becoming anyone else but Steve Forbert. He has certainly carved out his own distinct niche with a career which was never compromised - a career that spans nearly 30 years now. He still has the ability to make you sit forward and get caught in his songs.
In 2007 there were a couple of his songs choosen for the soundtrack of the Nicole Kidman film "Margot at the Wedding". It seems that after all these years Hollywood had discovered what others have known a long time.

Start your holiday season off right with this show, the Friday before Thanksgiving.  - Kris

Illinois Water Trails
open lands conservation vermillion
On June 14th, after a decade long multimillion dollar effort to complete a 500 mile non-motorized boating water trail system in northeastern Illinois, the opening was celebrated along the Little Calumet River in South Holland. It is noted as the first initiative of its kind in a metropolitan region. Detailed mapping was done and 50 new launch sites were added in the north eastern quarter of Illinois.  A visit to the website below lays out many different paddling adventures for all skill levels including families.  While only a couple of waterways even come close to bordering our area, the Fox river mainly, (see photo above) it provides detailed information for paddlers and canoers.

This project was co-authored by Openlands an organization that protects the natural open spaces of north eastern Illinois and the surrounding region to ensure cleaner air and water, protect natural habitats and wildlife. For more information click on the link below. - Ray

Mojito and Capriahna
Nothing is more refreshing during these hot summer months than a cocktail made with fresh ingredients like mint and lime.  A few drinks that were once only known in their native countries, are now trendy. Two of them that we have been making for 10 years, are the Mojito and the Caipirinha.
mojitoThe Mojito, also known as the Cuban margarita, is made with fresh mint, sugar and lime.
The Caipirinha (kai-preen-yah) is the national drink of Brazil. It is made with cachaca, sugar and fresh lime. Cachaca (cah-chah-cah) is made from distilled sugarcane juice.

Each drink is prepared to order by vigorously muddling all the ingredients together to extract all of the flavors of the lime and/or mint.  - Jimmy
