Last year I started a new school. I didn't like being new at first but then after a while, I felt like I had never been new. I know you might wonder why I wasn't shy or scared. Well, I was both those things when I started. When you walk into a new school almost everything changes: the kids at the school the teachers at the school even the smell of the air is different. Usually school is your home away from home because you are there the whole year and your friends are there with you. So if you switch it is almost like moving from your home to a new one, which is also hard. I would come home from my new school and cry to my mom and tell her how I was too shy to talk to the kids and how I missed having all my friends at my old school and felt like my old school was where I fit in best. Oh So Sweet's morning workshops allow children to mix it up in the kitchen this summer! Little bakers will measure ingredients, read recipes and gain practical experience while baking tasty home baked goodies {Ingredients and facility are completely NUT FREE}.
We discuss the recipe and the ingredients being used and their purpose. Children take turns incorporating all the ingredients together and prep the mixture for baking. While the baked goods are in the oven, kids engage in craft time and are given recipe cards to write out the recipes. Then comes the most exciting part...the baked good come out of the oven, cool and then kids get to try their tasty creations and package the rest to take home!

Oatmeal raisin cookies
Strawberry Muffins
Brownies & Blondies
Chocolate & Vanilla cupcakes

Summer Slide Is NOT an amusement park ride!
Summer offers a host of new and exciting activities. Yet, with summer vacation comes the dreaded possibility of "summer slide" - the loss of skills and knowledge that students experience over the summer holidays. Research shows that the summer break can have a negative impact on learning - particularly in reading and mathematics. Parents can mitigate the loss of learning that takes place during summer vacation by creating rich learning experiences for their children; experiences that keep their essential reading and mathematical skills sharp. Children feel summer vacation is time-off from structured learning so the trick is to conceal learning in the everyday experiences of family life ... sort of like hiding the broccoli under melted cheese.
