     New Driver Phone that Pays for Itself 

We've recently checked out a new 7" tablet and have turned it into a powerful device for drivers.  Here's how we created a new driver phone that pays for itself in 1 year:

 

1. Our new driver phone has the following parts:

  1. Tablet with WIFI
  2. Wifi hot spot with data plan (internet access)
  3. Skype service for voice and video services
  4. Dropbox to share files
  5. EZpdf(android) or GoodReader (iPhone)
  6. Email client (godaddy, gmail, etc)

2. Costs using tablet 

- One time costs

1. Tablet $300-$400 (or less, on sale)

2. Wifi hot spot $100.00

 - Monthly costs

1. Wifi data plan $20.00

2. Skype phone service $4.99 (or less, with subscription)

 

Total 2-yr cost 1050.00 ( 450 one-time + 25/month)

 

3. How this saves you money

Compare the two-year cost of using a tablet with a traditional smart phone  with voice and data plans.

 

Costs using smart phone 

       - One time cost

1.Cost of phone 100.00

- Monthly costs

1. Voice plan $60.00

2. Data plan $20.00

 

Total 2-yr cost 2140.00 (100 one-time +85/month)

 

Savings over 2 years

2140 - 1050 = 1090.00

 

Q & A   - Invoicing Shortcuts 

Is there a better way to enter sales receipt than to input a charge, then invoice and pay invoice?
Answer: You can after entering the charge, click tool bar option to post and pay. This will create the invoice and bring you into posting screen to apply payment. From the payment form you can print or email the invoice.  

Is there a short cut to put several charges in for the same invoice, rather than creating a different charge for each service, then creating invoice?  For example, having a separate charge for extra digging for a septic job. 
Answer: Yes, you can make a single line charge and in the note break down the details. You will lose sales reporting by line charge, however, e.g., how much you received in income from extra digging.

Restroom Talk 
I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying: 'Hi, how are you?'

I'm not the type to start a conversation in the men's restroom, but I don't know what got into me, so I answered, somewhat embarrassed, 'Doin' just fine.'

And the other guy says: 'So what are you up to?'

What kind of question is that? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say: 'Uhhh, I'm like you, just traveling.'

At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question. 'Can I come over?'

Ok, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell him, 'No........I'm a little busy right now!!!'

Then I hear the guy say nervously...

'Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions.'
