Out for a walk on a fine spring day, Mary meets Father Daniel.
"Well. Mary, " says Father Daniel, "I haven't seen you since the wedding. And how are you and your fine husband James?"
"We're quite well, Father. No children, yet Father, although we've been trying our best."
"Well, I'm off to Rome next week and I'll light a candle for you," says Father Daniel. "Thank you, Father," she replies and continues on her way.
Many years later they meet again. "Well now, Mary," the Father says , "how are you?" And tell me, have you any little ones yet?"
"Oh yes, Father," she replies. We have four lovely daughters and four wonderful sons -- eight in all!"
"Now isn't that wonderful," he replies. "And how is your husband, James?"
"He's well, Father. He's gone off to Rome to blow out that darn candle!"
