By Tracey Scarlett, CEO
Did you know that over 50% of women who come to see us about our programs are under 35? This dynamic group is well educated and motivated to own their own businesses for a variety of lifestyle and personal reasons. This represents tremendous growth over the past couple years in this age group, likely due to the fact that Alberta has the youngest population in Canada.
In response to this trend, we are very excited to have launched a new partnership with Canadian Youth Business Foundation that combines financing and mentorship to meet the entrepreneurial aspirations of these women. Our regular programs are also available to women who qualify for this program but these additional resources are intended to give this group an extra boost in achieving their goals.

Making the most of market research - By Kathleen McCloskey
Market research can be perplexing to entrepreneurs. It is important to recognize that market research is not just imperative for new businesses but also necessary for established businesses hoping to launch a new product or service, enter a new market, or even maintain and grow their existing business.
Market research involves asking questions and finding answers about the following areas:
The Market · Who will want and be able to buy the product or service? · Is there enough of those people for you to make money? · What trends are occurring in the industry (i.e. economic, demographic, social, etc.)?
