Message from the CEO
 It seems like we have finally reached spring! From snow last weekend to 30C forecast for the May long weekend - only in Alberta! Seeds are being sown around the province and we are seeing the results of seeds we have previously planted at Alberta Women Entrepreneurs over the past 13 years.
Many of you will have received a request to participate in a survey about our programs. This program impact assessment is very important to us and I would urge you to participate and have your voice heard about the value of what we do, as it has a direct impact on our ongoing funding. AWE Sponsors the Back Nine Dine and Refine
Basing a women's event around golf may be a questionable decision to some. Though many women love to golf, it's fair to say, it's not usually the number one choice for a relaxing, pamper-yourself retreat.
However, an upcoming event organized by Women in Business and Junior Achievement is going to bring all of the joys of golf - riding the cart, enjoying the outdoors, and sipping cold drinks - while eliminating the nasty parts - hitting the ball into the trees, hitting the ball into the next fairway, hitting the ball onto the adjacent road and so on - in fact, golf clubs won't even be used.

Business Blaster Has International Impact
Speakers' Spotlight, has extended a loan through kiva.org in AWE's name as a thank you for using them to arrange David Chilton and Dianne Buckner as keynote speakers at the AWE Women's Business Blaster.
As a result, a loan has been granted to Albertina Ubisse from Namaacha, Mozambique. Albertina is a widow with six children and three grandchildren who sells clothes at a local market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and during the rest of the week, she sells clothes from her home.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 BDC Youth Entrepreneur Awards. These awards highlight Canada's best and brightest young entrepreneurs and to recognize their innovative spirit and business acumen. There is one winning business per province and territory for a total of 13 YEA.
