TO TELL THE TRUTH

pinocchio "Liar, liar! Pants on fire!"  It's something that many of us have either said, or had said to us when we were kids. It's a good thing that it's not really true, otherwise, many of us would be walking around burnt and in a lot of pain.

Each of us, at one time or another, has told a lie. It may have been something that we called 'a little white lie,' or it may have been a big lie to get us out of trouble or to make us look better than someone else.

When we hear the phrase, "The whole truth and nothing but the truth" we agree that it's an important standard that should be upheld when someone is testifying in court, but to a lot of us it seems unrealistic when we're talking about everyday life.
Regardless of how little or big, according to Exodus 20:16, a lie is a lie.  The Bible has a lot to say about lying.  Proverbs 6 says it is one of the seven things the Lord hates.

This weekend we'll be looking at lying as we continue our series on the Ten Commandments with a look at "Nothing but the truth."

Embracing the journey,
Pastor Rick
