WHY PRAY?
In 2005, Newsweek magazine surveyed Americans about what they believe and how they practice their faith. One of the questions they asked was: "What do you think is the most important purpose of prayer?"
Here are the responses they received:
- To seek God's guidance (27%)
- To thank God (23%)
- To be close to God (19%)
- To help others (13%)
- To improve a person's life (9%)
- Other (4%)
- Don't know (5%)
As you can see from the variety of responses, there are many reasons to pray. This weekend, as we continue our teaching series examining the last twenty-four hours of Jesus' life on his way to the cross, we'll look at His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane and see what we can learn from our Lord's example. I hope you can join us!
Embracing the journey,
Pastor Rick
