OUT OF THIS WORLD LIVING
"...do not be conformed to this world..." Romans 12:2
When the Bible uses the word 'world,' it's usually used in one of two ways. It can be used to refer to the actual planet on which we live, or it can be used in a metaphorical sense, where the word 'world' refers to everything that does not submit or yield to God's direct authority. That's the way that Paul uses the word in Romans 12:2, when he warns us against being conformed to this world. God's Word is telling us that the world, everything that's not of God, has a way of doing things and that God has a different way. Nowhere do we see that difference more strikingly than in the challenge that God's Word gives us to take on the attitude of Jesus when it comes to serving: "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross."Philippians 2:5-8 This weekend as we continue our New Year's series, "Resolutions," we're looking at Servanthood. I hope you can join us Saturday evening at 5:30PM or Sunday morning at 9AM or 11AM. Embracing the journey, Pastor Rick
