"I love you, Lord, but what have you done for me lately?"
If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians,
for I am the LORD, who heals you.
Exodus 15:26
Three days is a long time to go without water, and the Israelites were getting thirsty. The past experience of seeing God's miraculous power as he delivered them from Egypt and parted the Red Sea was beginning to wane, and their present need for water was all they could think about. Finally, they came to a place where there was water, but it was too bitter to drink. Disappointment turned to grumbling and their leader Moses cried out to the Lord for help.
God showed Moses a piece of wood and instructed him to throw it in the water. When Moses obeyed, the water became sweet. As the Israelites enjoyed the water, God set forth the instructions found in the verse above.
The three days without water was a test for God's people. After seeing firsthand the miracle of the plagues and the parting of the Sea, would they continue to trust God? It's hard, isn't it? Our memories of what God did for us yesterday can fade as we become overwhelmed by the new challenges facing us today. The good news is that God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever and Jesus Christ is "Jehovah Rapha - The God Who Heals."
I hope you can join us this Saturday at 5:30 or Sunday at 9AM or 11AM as we continue our series "What's In A Name?"
Embracing the journey,
Pastor Rick |
