Who's copying you?
Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
This weekend we're celebrating Mother's Day. One of the greatest tributes that can be given to any mom is when her child reflects on their own faith journey and says "I learned the Bible at my mother's knee." Words like that reinforce the power of example. They remind us that, in seeking to train children to grow up to become godly adults, it doesn't work to say "Do as I say, not as I do."
Children must be able to see an example of Christ in their parents. Paul says to his spiritual children in 1 Corinthians 11:1, "Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ." Unless parents are faithfully following Christ themselves, they can't be godly examples for their own children.
This weekend we continue our series Christian Atheist by looking at the topic: "I believe in God but... I don't want to force my faith on my children." I hope you can join us Saturday at 5:30PM or Sunday morning at 9AM or 11AM.
If you plan to worship at one of our Sunday services this weekend, we invite you to stop by the Free Family Foto Booth and have your picture taken. Also, if you're going to be worshiping with us at the 11AM worship service, you can do a lot to help make our guests feel welcome by parking offsite and hiking in to worship, leaving spaces available in the lot for those who are new to our church. Thanks in advance for your help!
Embracing the journey, Pastor Rick
