Can you hear me now?
We've all had the experience. You run in to a friend you haven't seen for a while, and when you greet them, you ask the same question that people always ask in that situation - you ask, "How are you?"
It's a simple question, and you're expecting a short answer. You expect them to say "I'm Fine" or "Doing great." But things aren't fine with your friend. Instead of giving you the pat answer, they begin to open up, pour out their heart, and share with you some of the pain that they've experienced as a result of all the stuff that they've been dealing with. You quickly realize that there are no words that can right the wrongs or heal the hurts that your friend is feeling, and so you say what a lot of us say in that situation. You say, "I'm sorry. I'll be praying for you."
Many times when it comes to the promises we make to remember to pray for someone, it's a lot easier to say it than it is to pray it.
This weekend we're concluding our series on prayer with a look at "How To Pray For Others." I hope you can join us Saturday at 5:30PM or Sunday morning 9AM or 11AM.
Embracing the journey, Pastor Rick

| CONGRATULATIONS ERBC PATRIOTS!
Congratulations to the ERBC Patriots for their victory in our local World Series of Church Softball.
There was a good crowd present last Tuesday evening, cheering on the two ERBC teams, Patriots & Veritas. Both ERBC teams had faced other neighboring churches, Christian Assembly and Lake Avenue, in order to make it to the finals. When both ERBC teams were victorious in their playoff games, it meant that we had two ERBC teams going head to head for the championship. At the championship game, many fans in the stands had divided loyalties, because they had friends on both teams. Throughout the game the most frequently heard cheer was, "Go Eagle Rock!"
Congratulations to the Patriots who prevailed in a 16-13 victory. |
