 Lord, teach us to pray...
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." Luke 11:1
This weekend we're continuing our series "Vertical" by looking at what is arguably the best known prayer in all the world. It's the prayer that Jesus gave in response to the request of his disciples who said "Lord, teach us to pray."
Although we often refer to it as "The Lord's Prayer" it's been suggested that it would be more accurate to call it "The Disciple's Prayer" since it's a prayer that Jesus himself never would have prayed.
Some people attach a mystical significance to this prayer. They feel like it's the big-gun prayer to pull out when all else fails. But this is not a prayer for us to parrot, as much as it is a pattern for us to follow - a prayer to guide us in all of the prayers that we would offer to God.
We are specially privileged this weekend to welcome back to our pulpit our friend and former senior pastor of Eagle Rock Baptist Church, C. John Steer.

 ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETINGS
SATURDAY, APRIL 9 & SUNDAY, APRIL 17
Once a year, our church family takes time to review the past year and consider plans for the coming year. On Saturday, April 9 (7PM - Chi Hall Library) we are holding a "pre-business meeting" where you can review the proposed budget for the new fiscal year in detail. On Sunday, April 17 (12:30PM - Fellowship Hall) we will hold our Annual Meeting, where ERBC members may vote on the proposed budget and committee members. Details are available in the front lobby of the Worship Center.

 YOUNG ADULTS BOWLING

 SENIORS WHALE WATCHING
Eagles Wings invites all seniors to join us for a Whale Watching trip, on Wednesday, April 13. The cost is $25, plus $3 to help pay for gas. We will meet at 10AM in the ERBC parking lot.  NEIGHBORHOOD WALK
Help ERBC reach out to our community. We want to let our neighbors know about our Easter services as well as our Community Breakfast & Egg Hunt. Join us on Saturday morning, April 16, at 10AM, as we walk our surrounding streets and drop off invitations to our neighbors. A light lunch will be provided after the walk.  ADULT GRIEF SUPPORT
Find support, encouragement and compassion in the midst of grief. ERBC's senior ministry, Eagles Wings, is offering a 6-week grief support ministry for any adults who have experienced the loss of a close friend or family member in the past two years. The group will meet Mondays, 7-8:15PM in the Family Room. There is no cost to participate.  TENEBRAE
Join our church family for a special time of remembering Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for us. As a part of this service, we will celebrate communion together.  COMMUNITY BREAKFAST & EGG HUNT
Celebrate Easter with our neighbors! We'll be serving up a hot, delicious breakfast for everyone, followed by an egg hunt for all kids 12 and under. Prizes include amusement park passes, bicycles, board games, stuffed animals and more.
