 We want what we want and we want it FAST...
Of all the spiritual disciplines, fasting is probably the most misunderstood. When you think of fasting, what kinds of people images come to mind? Legalists? Health nuts? It might surprise you to know that the Bible mentions fasting more often than it does some other things that we talk about all the time, like baptism.
Jesus didn't spend time trying to convince his disciples that fasting should be part of their lives. Instead, he assumed that it would. That's why when you read through the gospels you'll find him saying things like "When you fast..." not "If you fast..." (Matthew 6:16-17).
When someone asked why Jesus' disciples didn't fast, he replied: "How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast." (Matthew 9:15). This weekend we'll look at how something that Jesus spoke of as expected, has instead become optional.

 COFFEE HOUSE VOLUNTEER TRAINING
A big part of making people feel welcome, relaxed and "at home" at ERBC is our Higher Grounds Coffee House. Right now there's room on our HGCH ministry team, so we're looking for more people to serve with us. We'll be holding a volunteer training this Saturday, March 26 at 3PM in the coffee house.  MEN'S RETREAT

 NEIGHBORHOOD WALK
Help ERBC reach out to our community. We want to let our neighbors know about our Easter services as well as our Community Breakfast & Egg Hunt. Join us on Saturday morning, April 16, at 10AM, as we walk our surrounding streets and drop off invitations to our neighbors. A light lunch will be provided after the walk.

 ADULT GRIEF SUPPORT
Find support, encouragement and compassion in the midst of grief. ERBC's senior ministry, Eagles Wings, is offering a 6-week grief support ministry for any adults who have experienced the loss of a close friend or family member in the past two years. The group will meet Mondays, 7-8:15PM in the Family Room. There is no cost to participate.  COMMUNITY BREAKFAST & EGG HUNT
Celebrate Easter with our neighbors! We'll be serving up a hot, delicious breakfast for everyone, followed by an egg hunt for all kids 12 and under. Prizes include amusement park passes, bicycles, board games, stuffed animals and more.
