What's Your Love Language?
It's been said that there are three things in life that are certain: the Clippers losing, taxes and death. While the
first two may seem like certainties, the reality is that they are not. In their first fifteen games this season the Clippers have surprisingly managed to win twice. Some people find ways to cheat on their taxes. But so far no one has found a way to cheat death. The mortality rate for mankind remains the same. One out of every one dies.
A few years ago Tim McGraw released a hit song titled "Live Like You Were Dying." It's the story of a man who discovered that he was dying of a fatal disease and what he learned about living his final days well. It is a song about what he found to be important and how he hoped everyone could have the chance to live like they only had thirty days to live.
In a similar way God's Word challenges us to live like we are dying, with an eye on eternity. In 2 Corinthians 4:18 the Apostle Paul writes:
We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
This weekend we conclude our New Testament Challenge by looking at "The Challenge of Eternity." I hope you can join us Saturday evening at 5:30PM or Sunday morning at 9 or 11AM.
Embracing the journey, Pastor Rick
