What's Your Fitness Goal?
Train yourself to be godly. Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
1 Timothy 4:7-8
There's an increasing focus in our society on health care and physical fitness. The recent debate over the best way to reform the nation's health care system has taken place in the midst of an atmosphere thick with ads for organic foods, low-fat/high-fiber diets, weight loss programs, home gym equipment, workout garb, and health club memberships. People want to be physically fit, and that's a good thing. But it's not the most important fitness goal we should be pursuing. Paul encouraged Timothy to train in godliness in much the same way that an athlete trains for physical competition.
This week we're continuing our New Testament Challenge and we're looking at "The Challenge of Godliness." As part of our study we'll look at the things that both promote and hinder our spiritual health and we'll provide you with some diagnostic tools for keeping track of your own personal fitness goals.
I look forward to seeing you Saturday at 5:30PM or Sunday at 9AM or 11AM.
Embracing the journey, Pastor Rick

Help us provide holiday meals to needy families this Thanksgiving. Bring in non-perishable, non-frozen foods to fill dinner boxes for families of six. You can also donate $25 gift cards to Ralphs or Food4Less to purchase turkeys/chickens. We can also use volunteers to help pack boxes and/or deliver meals to World Impact. Food items can be brought to ERBC and placed on the Worship Center stage. Contact jordan@eaglerockbaptist.com.
