The Challenge of Perseveranceperseverance

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2

The Bible compares our life to a race. But this race is not like any other we have ever run. In this race we don't compete against other runners, and we don't even all run the same course. We run the race marked out for us by our Heavenly Father; and we all run toward the same finish line.

As we run our race, it's not unusual for us to grow weary and at times feel like we are in desperately need of rest. The key to running well and finishing this race is perseverance --the ability to keep on keeping on in spite of the obstacles, hindrances and pitfalls that we encounter along the way.

This weekend, as we continue our New Testament Challenge, we'll be looking at "The Challenge of Perseverance" and we'll see what God's Word says about persevering through difficult times and situations. I hope to see you Saturday evening at 5:30PM or Sunday morning at 9AM or 11AM.

Pressing on toward the goal,
Pastor Rick
