The Challenge of Generosity
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full --pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38
Two of the areas where many of us can be the stingiest are the areas of money and forgiveness. As you read the Sermon on the Mount you discover that Jesus teaches that there is a definite connection between the graciousness and generosity that we show others and the graciousness and generosity that we receive from others and from God.
God has poured love, forgiveness, graciousness and every other blessing into our lives and He has given us those things to enjoy and to share. However, when we take those things off the market --when we take them out of circulation in our relationships by refusing to share them with others-- they become damaged and lost with us.
This weekend as we continue our New Testament Challenge we will be looking at "The Challenge of Generosity" and the call to share with others all of the good things that God has given to us. I hope to see you Saturday at 5:30PM or Sunday at 9 or 11AM.
