Crooked or straight?
The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out. Proverbs 10:9
Built more than 2,000 years ago, the Great Wall of China is one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. The wall was originally constructed to protect the borders of the Chinese Empire against invasions by their enemies to the north.
Once the building project was completed, the finished wall was so high that the Chinese knew that no one could climb over it, and it was so thick that they were sure that nothing could break it down. As a result they settled back to enjoy their security.
But during the first 100 years of the wall's existence, China was invaded 3 times. Sadly, not once did the enemy break down the wall or climb over its top. Each time they bribed a gatekeeper and marched right through the gates. According to historians, the Chinese were so busy relying upon the walls of stone that they forgot to teach integrity to their children.
This weekend we conclude our Character Tour of the Old Testament by looking at "The Integrity of Daniel." We'll see how he responded when he was faced with difficult decisions, and we'll learn some principles that will help us to stand firm when we're faced with tough choices in our lives.
I hope you can join us Saturday evening at 5:30PM or Sunday morning at 9AM or 11AM.
Embracing the journey, Pastor Rick
