Ever heard of these: Alektorophobia- the fear of chickens, Omphalophobia- the fear of belly buttons, or Pentheraphobia- the fear of your mother-in-law? How about Zemmiphobia- fear of the great mole rat, or Arachibutyrophobia- the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth? Or my personal favorite, Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia- the fear of long words?
The world we live in is filled with things we can be afraid of. Maybe you don't suffer from Aeronausiphobia, (the fear of vomiting secondary to airsickness), but chances are there is at least one thing that makes you feel anxious, unsettled, even fearful. How about Atychiphobia- the fear of failure, Metathesiophobia- the fear of change, or Soteriophobia- the fear of dependence on others...?
This weekend, we continue our message series, "Character Tour of the Old Testament," by looking at The Courage of Rahab. Join us as we consider how God would have us face the things that scare us most --unless, of course, you are suffering from Homilophobia- the fear of sermons.
Embracing the journey,
Pastor Rick
