Kitsap Peninsula's Branding Strategy Goes International

2012 is a little more than three weeks old and already local tourism and event business is getting positive attention from national and international travelers.

On Saturday, the KPVCB hosted eight journalists and travel writers from India representing some of the largest news media in the world. The writers were here as part of the Boeing 777 Emirates Airline's new Seattle-Dubai non-stop service that will start on March 1. The KPVCB was asked by Emirates Airline's consulting firm in Seattle to assist with the visit and make a presentation about the region.IndianLunch We were delighted that the Kitsap Peninsula was selected as a stop on the group's two day itinerary. After arriving from Seattle aboard one of our famous WA State Ferries, we had a little more than two hours for lunch, presentation, and tour around town.
Joining me to talk about the Kitsap Peninsula and it's communities were Bainbridge Island City Council member, Steven Bonkowski; Kitsap County Commissioner Rob Gelder; and State Senator Christine Rolfes. Andrea Mackin, Director, Bainbridge Island Downtown Association, provided local guidance. The KPVCB worked with local Chambers and downtown associations to a assemble press kits that showcased the Kitsap Peninsula and all of its communities. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this unexpected international visit a great success including the team at Cafe Nola, Mora's and the Treehouse Cafe which stepped in to help out when Winslow Way temporarily lost power.

The fact these respected international journalists and travel writers chose to spend part of their brief visit on "the Natural Side of Puget Sound", proves our branding strategy is working and that we truly have what it takes to become an international destination region. This eNews also provides information about other marketing as sales strategies we'll be employing in the months ahead to create economic benefits today and in the future.

You can help brand and market YOUR region by including the words "Kitsap Peninsula" in your advertising materials and on your website.
It's the easiest way to make sure visitor stop and spend time in our area before heading to the Olympic Peninsula or back home!
