November is a great time to visit the Kitsap Peninsula, the Natural Side of Puget Sound. Start your adventure with a self-guided tour of the famous
Bloedel Reserve and enjoy the last of our fall colors at this national treasure on Bainbridge Island. The popular North Kitsap Annual Art In the Woods Tour offers another great reasoCityDogn to make it a long weekend. For lodging ideas, the Poulsbo Inn and  GuestHouse International in Poulsbo are the places to stay. 
 
If your looking for some fresh salt air and a place to run for you and your friend, check out our pet friendly tours of Port Orchard and Bremerton featured in CityDog and on our website. Another great place to let Rover run is on the sandy beach in Hansville. You can also marvel at historic Point No Point Lighthouse
built in 1879, considered the oldest lighthouse on the Puget Sound. Mosey on over to the Cup of Joy Cafe for breakfast, lunch or just a steamy espresso.  On the way to or from Hansville drop by the wonderful Dragonfly Farms Nursery on the westside of Hanville Road where their display gardens will inspire you.

Join the Clear Creek Task Force for a day at the beach! Help pull in a seine net and then inventory the near shore habitat. Free family fun with the Suquamish Tribe's Marine Biologist, Paul Dorn. Wear warm clothing and boots! Afterward, warm up with a hot bowl of soup from the Waterfront Bakery. Follow Clear Creek Trail to Old Town Silverdale, Waterfront Park and the Port of Silverdale's boat launch and marina. Stay the night at nearby hotels and browse around the quaint shops, restaurants, and the bakery again!

For the quintessential Kitsap Peninsula experience, sign-up for the popular Kayak Salmon & Hatchery Tour through Olympic Outdoor Center. Join Suquamish Tribe fisheries biologist and salmon habitat expert, Paul Dorn, for a visit to a salmon hatchery (Saturdays only). This very easy paddle trip will take you on an inspiring and educational journey.  A perfect way to getaway to the Natural Side of Puget Sound. Later, relax at one of Silverdale's hotels.

The Kitsap Peninsula is now home a dozen local wineries including Perennial Vintners with estate vineyards that were planted years ago. In fact, Perennial Vintners is the only vineyard in the United States growing the French grape Melon de Bourgogne. The Bainbridge Island Winery Group includes seven wineries, open on select weekends and  four tasting rooms just a hop, skip and a jump from the Bainbridge ferry. Visit their website for details. In South Kitsap, The budding Olalla Valley Vineyards & Winery tasting room is decorated in the old world tradition.  

 

Don't miss the weekly Friday Night Flight School at MorMor in Poulsbo. They offer great samplings of four amazing wines paired with appetizers. Please call to reserve your spot.

If you love microbrews and pubs that serve them, head on over to the Kitsap Peninsula and we'll keep you in good spirits. Brew Map The population of local brewers is expanding as well as pubs that serve those special brews. In Silverdale, it's Hale's Alehouse and SilverCity, Bremerton Harborside District sports the very hip, Toro Lounge and in Port Orchard there's dancing at Moon Dogs Too and sumptuous bites at the Bay Street Alehouse. Anthony's at Sinclair Inlet pulls local microbrews and has awesome appetizers.  In Manette, two pubs not to be missed are Der Blokken Brewery & Restaurant and The Manette Saloon and Side Bar. In Poulsbo, there's Tizley's Europub or Hare & pouring beer Hounds, and in Kingston, tap into Main Street Ale House.
