Summer is here (really) and a perfect time to enjoy the many outdoor activities the Kitsap Peninsula has to offer. You'll find crowd-pleasing farmers' markets nearly every day of the week where you can meet local farmers and vendors ready to share their abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables, artisan breads and baked treats, fresh cheeses, veggie starts, and hand-made gifts and crafts for dads and grads, and beautiful flower bouquets.

For a special weekday or weekend outing, take a scenic 10-minute ride aboard the historic Carlisle II foot ferry one of the original Mosquito Fleet boats that has been in service for more than 90 years. In Bremerton, you can board at the WA State Ferry terminal in Bremerton and sail to the Port Orchard Marina and enjoy the Port Orchard farmer's market (on Saturday). Or sail from Port Orchard to enjoy a tour any day of the week of the Puget Sound Naval Museum and Memorial Fountain Park. Click here for foot ferry schedule.  Bicycles welcome!

Ahoy boaters! Set sail for the Kitsap Peninsula where you'll find 300 feet of shoreline and 28 accessible marinas and boat/kayak launches. Many offer overnight and weekend moorage including the Ports of Silverdale, Kingston, Port Orchard, Poulsbo, Bremerton, and Brownsville, the Union Marina and at the Alderbrook Resort on the Hood Canal. Concert by the bayEnjoy the sounds of summer - the start of the outdoor concert season is here! Its time to grab a folding chair and head down to Port Orchard Marina Waterfront for Concerts by The Bay which runs through August. You will be delighted by Celtic music, Usual Suspects, Freestyle, File' Gumbo, Rangers, & the REarrangers.

On July 16, don't miss the "Last Gasp" Tour. Enjoy an afternoon with author, Gregg Olsen as you will visit the home of Dr. Linda Hazzard. Tour her original 1911 residence; view the famous front room, living room, and infamous claw footed bathtub. You will pass the ravine on the way to what's left of her famous sanitarium deep in the woods. This may well be the last time a tour will be available to the public on the Hazzard property before the woods reclaim history. Both events are fundraisers to support Kitsap Regional Library. Arrive by ferry, bridge, boat or bike!

You can arrive from the south via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, from the northwest, by way of the Hood Canal Bridge, or aboard a ferry from Edmonds, Seattle or Southworth (cyclists are always welcome). The ferries are the #1 attraction in Washington State and a must do-experience for guests from out-of-town...or from the other side of Puget Sound.
