THE RIGHT PRESCRIPTION FOR NEW JERSEY
The Department of Education has initiated a campaign titled The Right Prescription for New Jersey to be observed during the week of September 24-29. This campaign is in partnership with several agencies to raise awareness of the problem of prescription drug abuse and to promote responsible management of prescription drugs.
In response to the ongoing, high-risk behavior among adolescents, this campaign promotes a five-step challenge, as detailed on the attached flyer. r. During the week, there will be statewide media and educational events targeted to parents.

NEW - 1770S FESTIVAL

Each year the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center holds the Lord Stirling 1770s Festival at the site of Lord Stirling's estate. Lord Stirling was a Major General in Washington's army during the War for Independence. The festival has re-enactors and tradesfolk true to the Colonial period. There are "hands-on" activities for all ages. The 1770s Festival is an educational and entertaining way to learn about Colonial times. The 1770s Festival will be held rain or shine.

VACCINES FOR CHILDREN PROGRAM For all children birth to 18 years who are not covered by health insurance to receive appropriate vaccinations in a timely manner at no cost. The goal is to eliminate vaccine-preventable disease in children. This federally funded, state operated vaccine supply program provides pediatric vaccines at no cost to doctors and health care providers who serve children who might not otherwise be vaccinated due to the inability to pay.
