ATTENTION SENIORS:  COMMON APP AND NAVIANCE

Please make sure that you create a Common Application account - Mr. Smith sent information to all seniors in early August; if you didn't get that email, please check your Naviance account and provide the correct email address, if applicable. After you create the Common App account, you can then link that account with your Naviance account so that you can request transcripts - there is no more black book! On the Guidance web page, there is a presentation available (TRANSCRIPT REQUEST GUIDE, under the "College/Application Materials" folder)) to walk you through the process of combining your accounts.

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE VISITS

Please visit your Naviance account to view the list of schools visiting BHS over the first few weeks of the school year. If you are interested in attending a meeting with a college representative, then you must register through your Naviance account at least a day in advance. You also must inform your teacher in advance that you will be missing class, and you are responsible for all work.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS:  PSATS ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10

Bernards High School will offer the PSATs on Wednesday, October 10. The PSAT is practice for the SAT; for juniors, it also serves as the National Merit Scholarship qualifying exam. All juniors should take the Exam, and all sophomores are encouraged to test as well. The cost is $25 per student, and that money (along with registration slip) must be submitted to either Ms. Acuff or Mrs. Harknett in Guidance by Friday, October 5. The printable registration form is located on the Guidance web page. Please note that calculators are not required, but are allowed; we will NOT provide calculators.

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  VIRTUAL ACADEMY AT BHS
There are still a few spots available in the "Virtual Academy at BHS" - an opportunity for students to enroll in online courses that we do not offer in the Program of Studies. Spots are reserved for rising seniors and juniors. The information packet and application form are on the Guidance webpage on shsd.org - you will be able to find an overview of the program, the requirements, a list of available courses, and an application. Now that you have seen your schedules for the coming school year, you may notice a free period and realize that an additional "online" course will strengthen your academic record and/or allow you to pursue an interest. Please note that in order to enroll in the Virtual Academy, you must have a free period in your day. If you have questions, please email Mr. Smith ([email protected]) soon, as spots with the online providers disappear quickly.
