Build a Workforce You Can Be Proud Of - Youth Skills Initiative
A traineeship is an employment based training program that can be undertaken full-time or part-time, where during the course of the traineeship the trainee learns new skills in a hands-on environment while gaining valuable work experience. A traineeship can kick start a rewarding and exciting career.
The Youth Skills Initiative Traineeship is available for workers up to 24 years of age who are existing workers. This initiative allows existing employees who normally would not qualify for subsidised traineeship course fees (because they are already employed)access to training and the achievement of a qualification which is recognised across Australia.
Providing eligibility requirements are met and the trainee has not previously completed a related qualification (e.g. undertaken a Certificate II in Meat Processing and is articulating in to a Certificate III in Meat Processing), the up to 24 year old can complete a 24 month traineeship where subsidised fees and employer incentives apply of up to $4000.
If undertaking a traineeship which is under 24 months duration, employer incentives will not apply, but the course costs will be subsidised.
