Greetings!

Welcome to the January issue of the Arbor Research quarterly newsletter. We hope you enjoy the updates on our research and project milestones.

On December 15, 2011, the Arbor Research website www.dialysisreports.org posted the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD) 2012 Quality Incentive Program (QIP) facility Performance Score Certificates. Arbor Research calculated the draft and final QIP performance scores, produced the Performance Score Reports, and posted the Performance Score Certificates on the secure website. The posting coincided with a public statement by CMS Chief Medical Officer Dr. Patrick Conway announcing the public release of the final QIP performance score data and the Performance Score Certificates. On behalf of CMS, Arbor Research is convening a series of Clinical Technical Expert Panels in the spring of 2012. Arbor Research works in collaboration with UM-KECC on the development and maintenance of the ESRD quality measures for CMS. This is the third round of new measure development undertaken by Arbor Research for CMS. The initial rounds of measure development took place in 2006 and 2010, collectively resulting in measures in anemia management, dialysis adequacy, vascular access, mineral metabolism, hospitalization, survival, and a set of measures specific to the pediatric population.
