Batteries Plus opens 500th Store in Brookfield

Batteries Plus opened its first store in Green Bay in 1988, and in the past 23 years has solidified its position as the nation's first, largest and fastest growing battery and light bulb franchise. For their milestone 500th Store in the nation, Batteries Plus returned to its Wisconsin roots, and opened a new store at 12560 W. Capitol Drive in Brookfield.

Batteries Plus offers a comprehensive selection of batteries, battery-related products and technical support, and has recently added a full range of light bulbs to its offerings. The new store, just west of 124th Street on Capitol Drive, is adjacent to the Midas store in the same building. Batteries Plus has been cited as the nation's 5th fastest growing franchise by Franchise Times, and has made Inc. 5000's list of fastest growing private companies for five straight years. Batteries Plus stores have access to over 40,000 batteries, light bulbs and related products.

Caf One24 opens to Rave Reviews

The New Year brought another new restaurant offering to Brookfield. Caf One24 opened in early January in the multi-tenant building at 3705 N. 124th (just south of Capitol Drive), which is already home to a Culver's, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and an H & R Block office. Caf One24 features a modern design with exposed ceilings and track lighting creating a very contemporary look. An elegant wine bar on the east wall is separated by high top tables from the main dining room. In addition to the dcor, the good news here is in the food.

Sarah Dusseau is a personal trainer who already owned Fit Food Trainer, a combined training studio with healthy prepared meals to take home. Along with Renee Shecterle, the new Caf's owner, Sarah has emphasized fresh and clean organic and gluten-free menu selections, including many locally sourced items. The gourmet menu of entrees, sandwiches and burgers, soups, salads and appetizers, ranges from $8 Portabello Mushroom sandwiches and $11 Blackened Tilapia Po'Boys to $23 Seared Scallops. Partners including Cybros Sprouted Bakehouse, Empire Fish, Growing Power and the Wisconsin Grass Fed Beef Co-op help provide the locally sourced, organic stock for the Caf's culinary creations. Caf One24 is open from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The new caf is a great addition to the commercial areas in our 124th Street and Capitol Drive corridors.

Herzing University continues to expand Brookfield Campus

Herzing University has found its Brookfield Campus to be a good location for students, and is finding their offices at 555 S. Executive Drive to work well for other Herzing operations as well. MLT/Instructing Technologies, part of Herzing's continuing education division, moved its headquarters to the Executive Drive location this month. "We are excited about our new headquarters in Brookfield, where we are in close proximity to the Herzing University-Brookfield Campus and in easy access of our metro-Milwaukee clients and their employees," said Karen Kostrewa, CEO of MLT/Instructing Technologies. MLT offers a variety of IT training programs online, in classroom settings and on-site at customer's locations. Herzing University acquired MLT, also known as MasterLink Training, in 2010.

Herzing University-Brookfield continues to see growth in its Nursing program, has just launched a Medical Lab Technology program, and is growing its Therapeutic Massage program as well. Herzing is one of the four colleges and universities with locations on Executive Drive in Brookfield.
