SEMASS & Casella Tours:

Spots are still available for the upcoming tours at SEMASS and Casella ZeroSort!

Please RVSP to me at (508) 375-6974 or dquinn@barnstablecounty.org and let me know, for each tour, if you plan to drive yourself or if you would like to carpool.

I will be driving a County van that holds 7-8 people and leaving from the Barnstable County Complex at 3195 Main St. (Route 6A) in Barnstable Village at the below times.  We'll meet in the large parking lot, below the two small greenhouses (map). Since we will have more people than can fit in a van, we will need to organize additional carpooling amongst ourselves (or feel free to just meet the group at the facilities if that works better for you). Once I have a final list of attendees, I will email the final details to that group.

Add a RecyclingWorks "Widget" to your Town or Local Website:

Do you get questions from local businesses about where to bring difficult to manage waste and recyclables?  Well, our friends at RecyclingWorks have just released a nifty new "widget" that provides a great tool to help businesses in your community find answers quickly.  A "widget" is essentially a nicely formatted link that can be placed on a municipal or other local website to connect businesses with the RecyclingWorks site.

The RecyclingWorks program is designed to help Massachusetts businesses and institutions maximize recycling, reuse and composting opportunities. This program is off to a strong start and has already been beneficial to businesses across the state to help with recycling and composting initiatives.

Pathways to Zero Waste Workshop
Hosted by EPA Region 1
October 2nd, 9am - 4pm (all day)
Chelmsford, MA

Many New England states and communities are  evaluating how they can reduce waste and increase recycling rates. Is having a zero waste goal or path possible? What do communities need to know? How can EPA support these efforts?

These issues will be front and center at the Pathways to Zero Waste Workshop. This workshop is designed for state and municipal officials and other stakeholders interested in pursuing the pathway to zero waste. During the day long workshop we will have time to learn from experts and network with one another. At the workshop we will also introduce the beta-version of the Pathways to Zero Waste Electronic Resource Guide (e-guide).

Click here to register and to see more details about the day.  I will be attending, so if you'd like to carpool, please contact me at or dquinn@barnstablecounty.org or (508) 375-6974.
