Visitor's Guide to Recycling on Cape Cod
The Cape Cod Cooperative Extension has released an informational pamphlet, "Visitor's Guide to Recycling on Cape Cod."
The guide contains a table with contact information for each town's transfer station and basic information regarding hours of operation, pricing, and acceptable materials. The content is geared toward visitors who do not have a residential sticker for a local transfer station. While many visitors to Cape Cod have trash pickup (and sometimes recycling) handled through a private hauler set up their rental property's owner, this is a useful guide for people who want to do the right thing by recycling, but don't know where to go.
Downloaded a copy, or email me to request a bundle of hard copies to distribute.

Learning How to Turn Garbage into Gold
Cape Cod residents gathered on a humid mid-summer night in the Sandwich Town Hall Auditorium last week to learn all about how to reduce their trash and improve their soil through the art of composting. Ann McGovern of MassDEP spoke to the capacity crowd about the "dos and don'ts" of home composting, answered common questions, and demonstrated various techniques. A special thanks to due to the Sandwich DPW for providing compost bins, recycling bins, and advertising for the event, Peter Watts for providing bags of compost as door prizes, and Ann McGovern for an informative and fun presentation.

The Cape Cod Cooperative Extension will be hosting another composting workshop in Chatham this October. The exact date and time will be announced soon.
