Here at  Cape Cod Saltworks Sea Salt, in spite of recent cloudy days, we are feeling the sunshine as solar production of our briny sea salt is going very well... as are sales at the local farmers markets. The best part of the markets are the great  people we meet every week!  In August, there will be lots of exciting developments.... increased production, as well as community partnerships.  So come find us in Hyannis, Harwich, and Orleans! Buy fresh, buy local!  From our beach to your table.... Just Salt.

At Uncle Edgar's Farm we are eagerly awaiting the August burst of the tomato harvest.  We will have heirloom varieties at the Farmers Markets as well as this years' crop of eggplant, peppers including the Sante Fe Grande Chili Peppers, whose flavor ranges from mild to moderate.  What's good for the heat-loving veggies doesn't favor the handcrafted chocolates, so those will be limited to the milder market days!  Look for us in Hyannis and the Mid-Cape Farmers Market, in Harwich on Thursdays and in Orleans on Saturday mornings.

In the Weeds Flower Farm has tons of fresh cut mixed bouquets, hydrangeas, tomatoes, summer squash, patty pans, cucumbers and basil.

Farmers' Markets

Summer produce, in all its colorful abundance, is spilling out on to the tables of the Falmouth Farmers' Market. Yellow corn and peaches, red-ripe tomatoes, purple eggplants, blueberries, green beans and zucchini - all the summertime favorites are here. Tucked in amongst them, you'll also find startling yellow cucumbers, red turnips, okra and other more unusual fare. Dan Silva is busy canning the seasonal bounty, turning it into pickles to enjoy at backyard barbecues and family picnics, and making preserves for the store-cupboard.  So come to market with a spirit of adventure and carry a big bag (or buy one of our handsome bags at the market.) Thursdays noon to six, Peg Noonan Park on Main Street, Falmouth, falmouthfarmersmarket.org.

Come join us at the Bass River Farmers Market every Thursday from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, located on Old Main Street in Bass River across from the Cape Cod Cultural Center and the Public Library.  On August 9 and August 23, there will be cooking demonstrations by Kim Concra rom 9:30-1:00.  If you have any gardening questions, bring them along to our master gardeners who are there every week from10-noon.  Ann Pieroway will be at the market on August 16 from 8:00-1:30, signing her cookbook, "The Taste and Tales of Cape Cod."  At the market you will find an assortment of locally grown vegetables, fruit, herbs, baked goods, jams, jellies, soaps, salad dressings, spices and sauces as well as a variety of beautiful plants for your garden.  We will also have a new vendor this month, Chris Gillstrom from "Know Whey Artisan Cheese."  Don't forget to check out the artists demonstrating their work across the street at the Cultural Center.  www.bassriverfarmersmarket.org.
