January 2011

Dear High Point Church Family,

In order to bring adequate focus on each individual missionary, missionary family and/or agency we all support, a new monthly Missions in Action Newsletter is being created.  This is the first one for the new year 2011.  Together, we will be able to learn more about our missionaries and see how our Lord is working in the midst of each one of them as we effectively partner together in prayer.

As you become familiar with this newsletter, you'll discover the link to Missionary Prayer Requests will enable you to effectively pray for each need and then the News from the Field link will encourage you as you follow how our Lord is answering those specific requests in each mission field, accomplishing His will.  You'll be able to rejoice with our missionaries and really have a part in their ministries through prayer.  The Feature link will always focus on the article featured on this page.  Beginning the month of February, a missionary or agency will be featured per month.

Everyone likes to receive either a card or an email greeting on their birthday, and our missionaries are no different.  Each month, those celebrating theirs, will be listed, so you'll have an opportunity to remember their special day.

In the near future, look for the Did You Know??? link, where you will learn more about our missionaries, their families and the mission field God has called them to serve.

I hope this will help you to get excited about missions, help you to learn about those we support, and encourage you to pray more effectively and more often this year, 2011.

Lord bless,

Mary Hunter,

High Point Missions Coordinator

Chloe Barnes Lost Her Fight for Life:

     Chloe

Chloe Barnes, the 2-year-old granddaughter of our missionaries, Steve and Rowena Barnes and the daughter of their son, Philip and his wife, Erica lost her battle with metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD).  She underwent a stem cell transplant on October 1st, in Rochester, Minnesota, hoping to stop the progression of this genetic illness. Before the new cells could start growing, she contracted a lung infection and almost lost her life at that time.  Then, the weaning process from the ECMO machine began.  Chloe continued her fight to live, but the Lord ended her battle and took her home to be with Him,

November 2010.

Even though two months have gone by since Chloe went home to be with the Lord, it is never too late to offer words of comfort and encouragement.  So, if you would like to do so, just click on the link above under Feature and enter a note into the guest book there.  You can also send a note of encouragement and comfort to Steve and Rowena at:   steveandrowena@gmail.com
