Dear Families,

Conflict Resolution: It is always difficult to hear a story about playground injustice from your child. If you learn that your child or someone else's was excluded, pushed or bullied, it is essential that someone at school know about it so that we can follow up with all concerned parties.

We are proud to have a conflict resolution program in place where children are given opportunities to solve problems with their peers. Being involved in conflict resolution does not imply being in trouble. It means you have a problem and you'd like help solving it. If your child is telling you about playground problems, please help encourage her or him to ask an adult to help sign up for conflict resolution. It is very important that children who feel victimized have an opportunity to experience the empowerment of stating clearly what happened, how they felt and that they need it to stop. Conflict resolution complements but does not replace consequences for inappropriate behavior.

After school Activities: Our goal in our afterschool activities program is to provide a variety of affordable, enriching activities to TCGIS families. We are working hard to reduce the cost of participation. When we set prices part of our goal is to be in a position to offer scholarships to all families that request them. Full and partial scholarships are available. If you are holding back from registering for after school activities please fill out a scholarship request form. We want your children to participate. Forms are available here, or you can pick up a hard copy in the front office. Please see below for more information about registration.

Winter Break: We wish everyone the best in the upcoming break and hope you find time to spend with friends and family.

Lost and Found
Pick up your child's lost items by December 20th

Our lost and found collection continues to grow. Please look through the lost and found items in the front office to see if any of your child's belongings are here. We will be donating our lost and found on December 20, so please pick up any lost items before then. Thanks!
Library Materials Missing!
Please check to see if you have any overdue materials

Please have a look around the house, under beds, in shelves and book bags for those checked-out library materials which belong to the TCGIS library. We encourage students to have materials checked out over the winter break, but if you notice anything that is overdue, please help it find it's way back to its TCGIS library home. At the end of the school year (May) we will be assigning fees for lost articles to keep our collection up-to-date, so take this chance as we start a new calendar year to get overdue materials back in. Please contact Khrisslyn Goodman (kgoodman@tcgis.org) with questions or suggestions!
January Lunch Orders Due Tomorrow
Please return order forms and payment to the front office

The TCGIS January lunch orders are due tomorrow, January 16! If you haven't already, please fill out the order form here and return it with payment to the front office. You can also send in your orders via e-mail to lyork@tcgis.org if that is more convenient. Thank you!

Spirit Wear is now available for sale in the office. There are sweatshirts, baseball caps, t-shirts and bags. Orders are due in the office by December 16th. Yoda the Bearded Dragon Update
7th grade raises money for class pet

Thanks to the ingenuity and enthusiastic effort of the entire 7th grade class in their bake and craft sales, the 7th grade raised enough money not only to pay for a bigger cage with sand, heat lamps and wooden 'playground' piece, but also to put money away toward future costs of veterinary care or heat bulb replacement. A big thank you also to the TCGIS community for supporting the sales, and a special mention to the 2nd graders who used their knowledge of adding and subtracting from a dollar when making their purchases!
TCGIS Photo Contest
We want your pictures!

TCGIS is looking for images to represent the school on our website, in marketing materials and even in the yearbook. The six most suitable pictures will be used in the banner headings on our new website, which is currently in development. We are offering a prize for the best overall photo: tickets to a production by the Children's Theater Company this Spring! Please submit your photos by January 15 to photocontest@tcgis.org. See flyer for more info.
Maskenball Silent Auction
Collecting donations until January 6

Some fabulous donations have already come in for the Maskenball Silent Auction and more are on their way! From now until January 6, 2012, we are collecting any donations you would like to offer up for bid. If you would like to contribute something tangible--a hand-knit scarf, a gift certificate to your business, a piece of pottery--fill out this Donor Information Form & Receipt. If you would like to offer a community-building get-together--such as a progressive dinner, a swim party, a mother/daughter sewing class--then fill out this Great Gatherings Form. Please return the appropriate form and any donated items to Molly Kalda in the office.

If you would be interested in helping with any of the event raffles (beer, wine, or teacher), please contact Kami Blackwell Kinney at blackwell.kinney@juno.com. We'll also be collecting wine and beer donations after the winter break. If you end up with leftover bottles of wine from your holiday party, feel free to donate them to the wine raffle!
