Dear Families,

Upcoming Dates:

March 8th

Fasching or Carnival

March 21-25

Spring Break

May 21st 2:00 PM Performing Arts Performance

Thank you!

Thanks to the PTO for the magnificent efforts of Maskenball and the Silent Auction, events to both bring together community and raise much needed funds for the school. Special thanks to Michelle Sheire, auction chair and Rebecca Johnson, Maskenball chair, Gina Vader, PTO president, all members of the PTO and to donors, volunteers, buyers and attendees. The efforts are much-appreciated and have a significant impact for the life of the school.

Re-enrollment

Thanks for those families who have responded to our electronic request for re-enrollment.  If you have not yet indicated your intention to re-enroll or not re-enroll your children for next year, please send a simple email to the front desk with your child's name, grade next year, and whether you plan to re-enroll.

It is vital to our budgeting, hiring and admissions processes that we have as accurate information as possible about how many students will be here next year.  If you do not know if you'll be here, but want to make sure a space is reserved for you, please indicate that you would like to re-enroll, but we would appreciate you letting us know your options for other plans.

Fasching

The festival known as Mardi Gras celebrated the Tuesday before the beginning of Lent is commonly celebrated in Germany and known as Fasching.  At TCGIS students are invited to come to school in costume. There will be no all-school events.  Classroom teachers will notify students if there will be classroom level acknowledgement.

Next Performing Arts Event

Please mark Saturday, May 21st at 2:00 PM on your calendars.  The school has reserved St. Thomas More School Auditorium for another all-school performance from our Performing Arts program.  The event will be planned in coordination with a reception at the Germanic American Institute.  More information to come.

Thanks for all you do to support the school.

Maskenball Update

Thank you to all who bid, bought, donated, danced, etc. for this year's Maskenball and online auction. Both the event and auction were very successful. We will have the final results for you soon. In the meantime, see below for three new auction items and group events still open.

Many of you may have noticed capacity issues while trying to bid on auction items on Tuesday evening. This was an issue the software vendor's server capacity. This issue has been fixed and we were given a significant refund because of the problem. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We received two late auction items that were too good not to open the auction again!

Both will close on Friday, March

4th at 6PM.

$500 to use toward a one or two week session or summer session at Waldsee Language Village

Go to Waldsee for immersion adventures in the German language and German-speaking cultures in Europe and around the world. From your first "Guten Mogen!" until your last "Gute Nacht!" you will build an impressive foundation of German skills and cultural knowledge by participating in small language learning groups, joining cultural and camp activities, playing games and sports, dancing, singing, cooking -- and most of all, having fun with friends old and new.

Parents of Girl Scouts:

A note to parents of Girl Scouts interested in coordination for setting up a table/ booth for after school sales. Usually the the Girl Scouts have a policy to keep track of booth sales- one troop at a location at a time,  access to locations are first come first served and participation is based on individual motivation. To give opportunity to students from different troops within our school perhaps a sign up sheet can be left at the front desk for time slots/days.  Let the front desk know if you are interested in coordinating.

Thank you,

Sarah Monkey
