Earth Medicine Alliance                                          July 2012

Happy Summer!

Fourth of July is usually a time I just think of having the day off and having a BBQ with friends. Although this year, when people were saying "Happy Independence Day!" my inclination was to respond with a Sanskrit chant that translates:

"May all beings everywhere be happy and free."

Which makes me consider how many beings' lives on this planet are not "happy and free" because of the changing weather patterns and polluted water. It's a challenging subject amongst like-hearted people with earth-honoring ways. So, in the spirit of bringing people together who are interested in what the scientists, medicine people and philosophers are saying about this mass species extinction, the Alliance will be hosting a film screening of "Call of Life."

I'm pleased to announce that the Alliance will hold our first ritual specifically for families and children in Glen Park Canyon, SF and that we have our latest Voices of the Earth interview with Luisah Teish ready to view! Registration is also open for our third annual conference, Celebrating Ancestral Wisdom, in San Francisco.

There is much that can be accomplished when community comes together in service and devotion. If you have a passion for connecting with the living Earth and feel the gratitude and abundance of time or resources, we'd love to hear from you, so please be in touch.

I look forward to sharing ceremonial space with you soon!

Mystical Earth Family Ritual
Aug 12th
11am-2pm, Glen Park Canyon, San Francisco. Children inherently have a close relationship with the natural world, and show it through their fascination with (and collections of) plants, animals and stones. We welcome kids of all ages and their loved ones to join us in celebration of and union with nature spirits. Please see our Facebook event page for updated information about exact meeting location. Bushmama Africa and Artemis will co-lead this fun, activity-filled ceremony. Please feel free to invite families who may be interested.
Film Screening:
"Call of Life, Facing the Mass Extinction"
Sept 9th

6:30-9pm, Chez Poulet in SF. Through interviews with leading scientists, psychologists, anthropologists, and indigenous leaders, the film explores the causes, the scope and the potential effects of the mass extinction. It also looks beyond the immediate causes to consider how our cultural systems, along with deep-seated psychological and behavioral patterns & have allowed this situation to develop.

Paul Rubio and Daniel Foor ceremonialists and Alliance board members, will open with light ritual and dialogue. We welcome you to stay to connect with the community afterwards about our power to effect this kind of change. 3399 Cesar Chavez St. (near Mission St.) Please leave time for street parking. Suggested Donation: $10-$20. No one turned away. Please see our Facebook event to join!
