Greetings!
Happy Spring to all!
I look forward to our next event on Sunday, May 13th, Making Friends with Our Plant Relations in Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, facilitated by Daniel Foor (Ancestral Medicine). See the Spring Events section below for details and mark your calendars!
Also we are pleased this June to host John Lockley, a traditionally trained Xhosa healer, diviner, and ceremonial leader from South Africa. Please see the full flyer of John's events and be in touch directly with questions or to register for the weekend or divinations.
The recent much needed rains, as well as the power of community remind me of this reclaiming song:
Born of water cleansing, powerful, healing, changing, we are...
With Love and Respect,
Artemis

Greetings from Artemis, New Executive Director

I want to start by expressing how blessed I feel to be moving into the position of Executive Director. This has been a year of much growth and deepening of not only my own earth-honoring, mindfulness practices, and dedication towards the mission of the Earth Medicine Alliance, but also a year of growth in the organization.
I have much gratitude to Daniel Foor for his vision, dedication and service to nurturing this organization from a seed, which has been watered and fed by Alliance volunteers and extended community. I am honored that someone of such high values saw in me the potential to step into this position and am grateful for our ever-strengthening board and staff.
I look forward to continuing to expand our community, as it is only through the efforts of many like-spirited people that can we spark our collective memory of our inherent connection with the living Earth and in doing so, live in greater harmony with our other-than-human relations. In the vein of gratitude, I also want to acknowledge you for showing up to your life in Earth-honoring ways. |

Earth Medicine Alliance Spring 2012 Events
Making Friends with Our Plant Relations. Sun, May 13, 11am-4:30pm, Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, Redwood City, CA.
Spring is a glorious time in the S.F. Bay Area as wildflowers cover the hills. In this day of inclusive, heart-centered ritual we will approach our green-blood relations as potential friends and companions on this Earth walk. This focus on friendship with the plant worlds is intended as a welcome introduction for those with little to no knowledge of native plants as well as a nourishing ritual for those with prior herbalist or naturalist training. For specific meeting place and further details please see our events calendar description or our Facebook event page.
Honoring the Warrior Ancestors. June 23: 11am-3pm, Presidio of San Francisco. In the last 250 years over a million Americans have died in war with many times this seriously injured in mind or body. When we fail to honor and elevate the souls of our warrior ancestors, our families, communities, and personal integrity suffers. When given proper care and respect, these ancestors can be a potent force for supporting the vision of a world free from war and injustice. This community ritual will be open to all, by donation. For details please see our events calendar or our Facebook event page. This event is also aligned with Radical Joy for Hard Times and is registered as part of the The Earth Exchange Network.

Ways to Get Involved

The Earth Medicine Alliance is a volunteer-run non-profit focused on helping humans to heal and enliven our relations with the rest of the natural world. One of the best ways you can support our work is by making a donation to support our efforts (we are fully tax-exempt). To inquire about becoming part of our team, email Artemis at artemis@earthmedicine.org.
Alliance Wish List and Current Needs:
- Events Coordinator. If it brings you joy to support with fundraising, as well as working with elders and ceremonial leaders to help bring their wisdom to the community through our annual conference and rituals on the land, please get in contact to find out more about this position.
- Web maintenance and refinement. We are in acute need of a webmaster who knows or who can learn Joomla. This person would need to be self-directed and enjoy the task of tending and improving the quality/appearance of the site over time.
- Board of Directors. We are a working Board of six, and we have space for others if it's a good fit. If you have experience serving on a board, and especially if you have fundraising, marketing, business, or other practical skills feel good about contacting us.
