The Earth Medicine Alliance                                    Honoring Spirits of Place, 2011

Greetings!

We're excited here at the Alliance to be making final preparations for our second annual conference, Honoring Spirits of Place, Oct 22-23rd in San Francisco.

We now have our full conference program online including nearly 20 amazing earth-honoring presenters from truly diverse walks of life.  If you have not yet registered, the cost for both full days is $65 until October 1st and goes up to $75 after (click here to register).  Spaces are limited.

As an all-volunteer organization, the Alliance depends entirely on volunteer support to make our offerings like the Voices of the Earth Project and the Annual Conference a success.  You might think that's an intro to asking for donations, but in fact what we most want is your help in getting the word out about our conference.  We know there are many thousands of earth-loving people in the greater Bay Area who would love to be a part of this kind of experiential, interfaith offering, and we need your help in reaching those folks.

Below are a list of ways anyone can help with making the conference a success, including invitation to a conference planning meeting on Monday, Oct 3rd in San Francisco, and a sample letter that you could share with your networks.  You may also find it useful to just forward this email with a personal note to people who you feel would be interested.

Thanks for any efforts on your part to make this gathering a success!  Hope to see you at the conference if not before!

With love,

Daniel

Sample Letter for Sharing About the Conference

Dear _________,

Greetings!  I'm writing to share with you about an upcoming conference that I thought you might want to know about.  The focus is Honoring Spirits of Place, and it's the second annual conference of the Earth Medicine Alliance this Oct 22-23rd in San Francisco.  Here is the description from the organization:

"Spirits of place are our closest neighbors in the larger web of relations, those whom we most impact and are most impacted by. In addition to our human kin, they include animal and plant relations, mountains and rivers, ancestors of the land, the elders who bring rain and storms, stone people, elementals, local deities, nature spirits, and other strange old powers whose bodies we perceive as the natural world.

We invite you to join nearly 20 ceremonial leaders and teachers of diverse backgrounds for a full weekend of embodied learning, interfaith dialogue, and co-creative ritual focused on this theme of honoring spirits of place.

On Saturday we'll gather from 9:30am to 6:00pm at the Unitarian Center in San Francisco and on Sunday we'll circle at one of four locations on the land in and around the City (San Bruno Mountain, Baker Beach, Kirby Cove, and Oakland Shoreline) for inclusive, earth-honoring rituals led by our conference presenters. For our full conference program including presenter bios and descriptions of day two circles see: www.earthmedicine.org/2011_EMA_Conference_Program.pdf.

Registration is $65 before Oct 1st and $75 after and spaces are limited to 250 participants. To register: www.brownpapertickets.com/event/183067. We hope you can join us!"

I'm excited to be attending and especially looking forward to _________.   If the cost is a concern, I hear there are some work trade opportunities on the day of the conference.

I hope it works out for you to attend.  Thanks!

Sincerely,
