Elementary Science Spotlight on New Science Curriculum

We are extremely excited about the new elementary science curriculum. NCS first grade science explorers have been studying all about living things, nonliving things, and habitats. We have completed many fun activities during our class time together. Our students have enjoyed growing plants and watching shrimp eggs come to life. This hands-on approach is not only fun for the kids, but it brings out the scientist in each of them.

Our second graders have been immersing themselves in the study of Life Science. We have been learning all about plants and animals. Words like: life cycle, hypothesis, food web, adaptations and habitats are part of the vocabulary that our students are now excited to know the meaning of. They also had a great time building nests during science lab, while learning about how plants and animals help each other. Mrs. Mitchen and Mrs. Tate's Second Graders love science!!

Pictured at right, Amy Owens, our science specialist, engages the students in a lesson and a hands-on activity involving making "snakes".
