Dear Friends,
I am truly gratified and overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and acknowledgements I have received over the last week as I tendered my resignation. I can't think of a better parting gift and I want to extend to you my warmest thanks.
Shelly Willis, APP Director, will begin as the Interim Director of SMAC, beginning mid-July. Erika Kraft, Arts Education Coordinator, will be Acting Director of Friends of SMAC. I know you will enjoy working with them as much as I have.
My last day will be July 20th. July has long been planned as a down month for SMAC, so that the staff can take some time off and tackle those endless files. I know you will be understanding during this transition.
SMAC will continue to support and fight for arts and culture in Sacramento! We will continue to stimulate the economy and partner with other businesses with only the highest good in mind!
Wishing you all the best in your work, art and life,
Warmest thanks,
Rhyena

The restoration of the Fred Ball enamel mural, "The Way Home," has begun.

The tiles have all been removed from the west-facing façade of the Downtown West parking garage at 3rd and L Streets; now an extremely careful and elaborate process is underway with each tile being tagged with location/order reference, hand-scrubbed, and repaired. The mural will be re-installed later this summer.
