Arts Commission Update
December 5, 2011

Greetings!

Marguerite PharesEarly in the morning after Thanksgiving, I received a call from Lisa Marchand of Wilton. Her mother, Marguerite Phares, a professional ballet dancer and long time, highly-lauded, Sacramento ballet teacher had died, at age 94. Lisa wanted to know if we would like donations in her mother's memory to be made to us. What an honor it was to be asked this incredible question!

You may have read Marguerite Phares' obituary in the Bee (if you haven't, see it here). She stood for the best in creative tenacity and dogged determination by providing decades of training to young dancers, many of whom became professional dancers.

We are very honored to receive donations in her memory and in honor of her passionate devotion to teaching her beloved art form. Won't you join us in honoring her with a gift? Please click here to donate via our online secure form.

Warm regards,

Rhyena Halpern, Executive Director
