Greetings!
The Arts Commission remains a key resource for artists, arts groups and arts educators. We are the virtual venue of the arts, supporting more than 75 arts groups that reach out to over 1.6 million audience members; last year our online calendar, Sacramento365.com, listed over 4,000 events.
In the last month I have been researching how non-arts business leaders are thinking about the coming new year -- trends, forecasts, business practices.
In the business sector, a value proposition is defined as a promise of value to be delivered and a belief from the customer of value that will be experienced. A value proposition can apply to an entire organization, or parts thereof, or customer accounts, or products or services.
By that definition, the creative sector rates high on the value proposition scale. We are focused on the intangibles of our businesses and the value proposition of our goods and services. We have responded to economic trauma; absorbed losses; restructured and re-stabilized our organizations; increased new revenue generating activities; and shown uncanny nimbleness and flexibility. We know our strengths and our worth.
In face of 4+ years of severe economic limitations, the creative sector in Sacramento kept on producing arts and cultural events; kept on reaching out to the underserved; remained true to its culturally-specific communities; adapted and readapted and managed to find new areas for growth.
The Arts Commission is proud to be a community partner as Sacramento regains its economic strength.
Warm regards,
Rhyena Halpern, Executive Director
Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission
