SMAC UpdateOctober 3, 2011

Greetings!

Photo credit: Martin McIlroyIt was an amazing weekend at the Airport with 6000 residents seeing the building and our public art work for the first time! The overwhelming response to the artwork was joyful enthusiasm! I am very happy to see folks' excitement and pride in the work.

In addition to the Sac Bee, you can find out more about the public art program in this month's SacTown Magazine, Sacramento Visitor's Guide, the Sacramento Business Journal, Inside Publications, and more. Please go to our website for links to all the articles and photos.

If you are interested in purchasing a Rabbit t-shirt, please click here. Shirts are $18.50 for 1 or $30 for 2; pick up at our office or we will mail to you for an additional $8 S&H.

I want to make a plug for a fantastic fundraising event for SMAC at Ella Dining Room & Bar on Sunday, October 23rd, from 5pm-8pm. This is the brainchild of Councilmember Darrell Fong, who has gathered together his colleagues on the City Council to serve dinner to our guests that night! All proceeds go to support our nonprofit arts groups. So, if you would like to be served an elegant meal by your favorite council member and support SMAC at the same time, please click here for more info.

I hope you will scroll down to read all about Artober--31 days of art and soul, the Give Local Now campaign, our Prelude to the Arts Nominations, and more SMAC news. It is an exciting month for arts and culture!

Warm regards,

Rhyena Halpern, Executive Director
