Greetings!
I am looking forward to the fall season as it is always rich in cultural offerings. Our online calendar, Sacramento365.com, has over 750 events listed! Building upon last year's Arts. Open October., this October the arts community is presenting ARTOBER, 31 days of art & soul, in celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month. This month-long spotlight on the talents and arts resources of the region will feature festivals, performances, art walks, special events, and a host of partnerships between businesses and the arts.
It is also shaping up to be an exciting spotlight on the nonprofit sector and nonprofit organizations' contributions to our community. A combination of programs, campaigns, lectures, and community events are both providing exposure to the challenges and opportunities facing the nonprofit sector, and connecting these issues with the broader public in an effort to increase support for the nonprofit sector, including the arts. See our Arts Resources & Opportunities section below, and be sure to note the events taking place for the Nonprofit Resource Center's upcoming Nonprofit Week.
I also wanted to bring to your attention the Give Local Now movement, launched last week, which is dedicated to increasing philanthropy in our region. This is a major initiative in the 4-county region. If Sacramento comes up to national giving levels, 250 million dollars more would flow through our nonprofit sector each year! I invite you to learn more on their website.
Please go to Nonprofit Week, Give Local Now, and Sacramento365.com for more information.
Warm regards,
Rhyena Halpern, Executive Director
Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission
